April Air Squats Challenge

April 1 – April 30 we are running an Air Squat challenge.

The challenge: Do 100 Air Squats UNbroken every day for 30 days.

Sign up on the whiteboard by the bench presses. Record your time every day.

 

10K Burpee Challenge comes to an end!

A number of members signed up for the 10K Burpee Challenge way back in October. The challenge was to complete 55 burpees per day for 182 days (bringing the total to 10,010 burpees).

The 182nd day is today, March 31, 2013. Not all who signed up finished. In fact, only 4 made it to the end!

Here’s a big CONGRATULATIONS to the CrossFit members who did complete the challenge:

Two Rules:

  1. Do 55 burpees each day October 1 through March 31.
  2. Keep your count on the whiteboard and update every time you are in.

When you complete all 182 days, you will have done over 10K burpees! CONGRATULATIONS!

Paleo Challenge begins Sept. 17th

Make real and measurable lifestyle changes…

The Challenge is open to all active members of a CrossFit Affiliate and runs for 9 weeks from September 17, 2012 to November 18, 2012.  Everyone who completes all 3 Benchmark WOD’s during the first 2 weeks of the Challenge will receive the Sponsor Prize Package with an approximate retail value greater than $85.  There will be Weekly Performance Prizes given to the 20 top weekly performers during 6 weeks of the Challenge as well as additional fun weekly prize giveaways for Challenge community participation and interaction.  See the Official Rulesfor details.  At the end of the LuRong Living Paleo Challenge, Individual Champions for each division will be crowned and take home a Performance Outfitting Package with an approximate retail value greater than $1,000. See the Official Rules for details.  The Challenge is not just for individuals. TheCrossFit Affiliate Team with the highest average score (minimum 20 contestants) will take home the Affiliate Grand Prize: $50,000 Gym Makeover Package. The Challenge will benefit not only the participating individuals and CrossFit Affiliates, but also our charity partners, Steve’s Club and the Claudio Reyna Foundation who are directly impacting the next generation of youth in America and the world. Tupperware Snack Stackables

We are happy to announce that Karen H will be hosting a Tupperware party Sunday, September 16, 2012 at her house. Our very own member Maggie – independent Tupperware consultant extraordinaire – will provide the Tupperware.

We did this last year and it was a wonderful success! Tupperware has all shapes and sizes of containers to put those snacks and portion-controlled meals in… not to mention the very cool gadgets that they come out with every year!

Please block the date and plan on joining us!  Let Karen H know that you are coming.

Did you sign up for the 2012 Bed Race that will be held this Labor Day Weekend? We had a blast last year!

Tom needs 4 – 5 runners to run the bed up the street. Put the sheets on. Run the bed back and take the sheets off. Last year we had the BEST time the whole way through until the last team of young whipper-snappers from Marlborough High!

3011 Reps of Remembrance
“We will suffer to honor their memories and their sacrifice.”

CrossFit of Marlboro is organizing an event, “3011 Reps of Remembrance”, to honor the heroes and remember the victims of 9/11: 3,000 for the number of people who perished, 11 to honor the 11 year anniversary. We have also invited members of the Marlborough Police and Fire Departments to join us as they have a special connection to 9/11.

On Sunday September 9, 2012, beginning @ 9:03am (the time that the South World Trade Center Tower was struck), teams of 4-6 people will depart the CF box, flipping a tractor tire up Maple St. to the intersection of Main Street, turning left and proceeding to the Walker Building.

At the Walker Building each team will need to complete a specific number of repetitions of an exercise (e.g. burpees, push-ups). [Note: The lawn of the Walker Bldg will be decorated with 3,000 flags from Saturday 9/8/12 – Tuesday 9/11/12.] Teams will then flip the tire back to the box following the same route. The total course route (round trip) is 2.98 miles. Upon returning to CF, each team will have completed 3,011 reps.

You can put together a team of fellow CrossFitters or we can assign you to a team. This is not a race, we simply want all of the teams to finish. However, the goal for this event is to remind people of the significance of 9/11, a day that changed America and our lives forever. While we wish we could erase the horrors of that day from our memories, it is critical that we all remember the sacrifices and profound acts of heroism of 9/11.

The deadline to sign-up is August 20, 2012. It is critical that you sign up in advance so we can plan accordingly for the number of teams and quantity of tires needed.
